Okay, my grandmother was a great cook. She had a signature mix of Mexican ( her culture) and Southern comfort food ( her mother-in-law from Kentucky taught her). I mean, we had some AMAZING meals. Anyway, one of the desserts I remember her making was a simple one. If I had to guess, I’d say it used jar applesauce, cinnamon, raisins, vanilla, brown sugar and maybe butter. I’m sure I could play around until it SEEMED right, but I’d love to have an actual recipe. Does anyone have anything similar to this? I tried googling the ingredients but came up with thousands of recipes for applesauce cake and cookies. Frustrating. I even came up empty on recipe sites. It sounds like a simple recipe, but it tasted wonderful. I’d really love to make it for my family. So… anyone?

Does anyone have a good “comfort food” recipe they would like to share? I have a family member who is ill and want to make something for her family for a nice Sunday dinner for them tomorrow night. She hasn’t been able to cook, and I would like them to have something good…like a casserole or something?

Ok - someone else asked this question about 7 months ago - but no one was able to help. I hope this time, someone has the answer. August/September 2006 food network had an episode of “Secret Life of… Comfort Foods” A guy had a recipe for meatloaf that included oatmeal instead of breadcrumbs and called for covering the meatloaf with raw bacon before putting it in the oven to keep it extra moist. Darn food network never posted the recipe for it though!!!!! Does someone know the recipe - or have you seen the show recently and remember what else you put in this meatloaf? Also - what restaurant was that meatloaf from. Thanks guys!
